Auction Terms

Last updated September 20, 2026

These terms apply to any piece offered for bidding on this site. Placing a bid means you accept them.

Bidding

  • A bid is a binding offer to buy the piece at that amount. Bids cannot be retracted or lowered.
  • Each bid must meet or exceed the minimum next bid shown on the auction page.
  • Bidding requires an account with your name and email on file. Some auctions open to collectors first, or are open to collectors only; the auction page states who may bid and when.
  • Our record of bids and the times they were placed is final.
  • If a bid arrives in the closing minutes, the closing time may be extended by a few minutes so others can respond.

Reserve and closing

  • A piece may carry a reserve price, which is not disclosed. If the reserve is not met, no sale takes place.
  • The studio may withdraw a piece or cancel an auction at any time before bidding closes.
  • When bidding closes, the highest qualifying bid wins and the studio will be in touch.

Payment

  • Payment is by check or bank transfer (ACH). Card payments are not accepted at this time.
  • The winning bidder must pay in full within the payment window shown on the auction page.
  • If payment is not made within that window, the studio may offer the piece to the next bidder or relist it.
  • Title passes to the buyer on receipt of full payment. Applicable sales tax is added where required.

Shipping and condition

  • Shipping, packing and insurance are quoted separately and follow our Shipping & Returns terms.
  • Pieces are sold as-is, with the medium, year and dimensions described on the page. Colours may vary slightly between screens.
  • Auction sales are final. The right to return or cancel that applies to ordinary shop orders does not apply to pieces won at auction, except where the law requires it.
